It's a casual dress Friday here at the Skeet Thrower and around here its a fairly common thing for me to ask "What the hell happened to fill in celebrity name here?". For examples, see here, here and here. But today I'm asking what in the hell happened to Luke Wilson.
I used to love L-Dub. Old School, Blue Streak, a cameo in Anchorman, The Royal Tenenbaums...he used to be awesome.
Luke Wilson, what in the hell happened to you? Did you get kicked out of the cool club or do you just keeping gettin lost in movie studios that are filming horrible movies that feature the word "Blonde"?
Wait...you don't know what I'm talking about? Luke Wilson is filming a new movie called Blonde Ambition.
You realize this movie features Jessica Simpson, right? Her last two movies were Employee of the Month and The Dukes of Hazzard. You don't see a pattern here? Don't be duped by her bresticles, Jessica Simpson is not a good actress (although I guess she had a lot of people convinced that she was actually married to Nick Lachey).
I don't know what you did to the "New Rat Pack" but please get back on their good side because, apparently, when you make movie decisions on your own, you fail miserably.
On the plus side, maybe he'll have to follow the path of Jason Lee. He was in all kinds of movies but had to take a trip back to TV land for one of my favorite shows "My Name is Earl" (which ended its 3rd season last night), which has brought us clips like this.
So, maybe it won't all be a bad thing, Luke. Maybe you can turn it around after all.
Have a good weekend.

Casual Dress Friday: What the Hell Happened to Luke Wilson?

Nickelodeon Slips One Past Us
Every once in a while, I do a little research for a post or the blog itself. For instance, sometimes I go to Google or YouTube.com and type in variations of Skeet Throwin' to see how it turns out. Just to give you an update:
Search Term Number
Skeet Throwin' 1st
Skeet Thrower 3rd
Skeet Throwing 7th
I really have no reason for doing this other than curiosity. One of the added benefits of doing research is that I often stumble upon ridiculous links or videos (why only one eye!). For instance, here's a video for show on Nickelodeon about a puppet named Cousin Skeeter.
You may have missed it, but that video included the lines "Skeeter's the one for me" and "Skeeter's what I want, Skeeter's what I ne-e-e-ed." On a side note, that song was apparently sung by 702, a group famous for the high school hit Where My Girls At?.
While those lines are funny, to me, the most interesting thing may be the fact that Nickelodeon has now had two characters named Skeeter, the other being Skeeter Valentine from the show Doug. I'm not sure whether they knew what skeet meant or not, but I think this clip might shed some light onto things.
Skeet face! I'll give Nickelodeon the Doug character, but they slid one right by us their viewers (I would have put the Chappelle Show clip here...damn you Viacom, bastards) with the Cousin Skeeter show. Not only did they name the main character Skeeter, but they put it in the title. Well played, Nickelodeon.

Colbert: The Beginnings
I watched a small amount of SNL in the 90's last night. It was OK, but it just made me sad to remember what we had (on a side note, a lot of the alums looked really, really bad. Just awful). On the plus side, it allowed me to think about all of the good spin-offs SNL created. One of my favorites was the Dana Carvey Show (not to be confused with the Drew Carey Show - which I hated). I don't think the Dana Carvey Show lasted very long but it did have some awesome clips like this one:
When I was in middle school, that was the funniest thing ever. Anyway, one of the best parts of the DCS is that is featured Stephen Colbert (who, on a side note has an awesome Wiki: Wikiality.com featuring an article entitled Obamamamamia!). He seemed to be in most of the skits that made me laugh like Skinheads from Maine or him acting as a news reporter (as a precursor to his Daily Show days - I would normally have a clip there, but damn Viacom won't let their clips stay on the YouTube.Com...bastards).
Anyway, my favorite clip from that show was probably Stephen Colbert doing the NBC prologue for game 3 of the 1997 Eastern Conference Finals between the Bulls and Heat.
Those damn NBC Prologues were the best. Its prolly the combo of the music and the Bob Costas and Marv Albert (if you ever wanted to hear Marv Albert say "sloppy ball" watch the beginning of that clip...that's the only reason it is there) voice-overs.
Speaking of the NBA, did you watch the Spurs/Suns game yesterday? This is gonna be a good series - probably just as good as the Mavs/Warriors one. You have Nash, Stoudamire, Marion, Barbosa, Duncan, Parker, Ginobli and Big Shot Rob. It is gonna be awesome.
If nothing else, it led to this photograph. Here's a video of the accident.
Steve Nash should just be happy he ran into Tony Parker and not Jack Bauer.

Week In Recap: Cinco De Mayo
Yesterday was Cinco De Mayo. Big time day that HBO decided to celebrate with the Maywheather/De La Hoya fight and Hollywood decided to celebrate by releasing Spiderman 3. I celebrated by going downtown and drinking Red Bull. Good times.
Anyway, to help bring together the wonders of Mexican heritage, fighting and Spiderman, I bring to you a Lucha Libre fight between Spiderman and Venom (exercise caution after the fight ends because there is some male body painting...).
On to the recap...
On Tuesday, I realized I was getting old.
I told you about how I was going to nag at the airline industry on Wednesday. Turns out that paid off - I got two free flights.
Friday's post forced me to do some research on the Internets. I uncovered that the Japanese Spiderman is really weird. On a side note, I am always privileged when I make it to Wheezy's Interesting Internets - and this post made it. Good times.
Have a good week.

Casual Dress Friday: Spiderman or Supaidaaman
It's a casual dress Friday here at the Skeet Thrower and as you already know Spiderman 3 comes out today.
You all know how much I love TMNT, but Spiderman was also a cartoon I watched growing up (despite the weird theme song).
Anyway, I started doing some investigation for this post and found out that Power Rangers may actually be a Spiderman ripoff.
Want some proof? Here's Spiderman fighting what appears to be The Thing.
Right now you're saying, "So what. He has a car and the bad guy got huge." That's what she said. My response: Watch this clip.
How is that not Power Rangers? Spiderman doesn't have a big freaking robot! Turns out, that the Japanese call this guy Supaidaaman and he fights bad guys or boy bands (seriously!). This may be the most ridiculous show on TV. Honestly, that last clip (the one on ridiculous) is the best one (featuring a half-Shredder/half-Dr. Doom guy) - you need to watch that. I have no clue what is going on there.
After a little more research, Spiderman (along with some mix of the Avengers) apparently spawned the original Power Rangers, Battle Fever J.
Thank god we make the movies.

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That...
Let me start off by saying, I don't know if you watched the Warriors/Mavericks game last night, but it was a great game. The Warriors should have won, but went away from their offense in the last two minutes which cost them the game. If you have a chance, I'd watch the game on Thursday. It will be a good one - I promise.
I was going to talk some more about my BCS Top 5 Chicas today, but I think all I really need to say is Christina Milian (NSFW) is my wild card. Also, my wife finally decided to read my list, and, of course, immediately began constructing her list by looking up Andy Roddick's cod piece on the Internets. I guess that's prolly fair. I guess she has gotta flex her
Also, if you didn't check the comments, my boy Adam posted his BCS Top 5 which included: 5) Melissa Theuriau 4) Marisa Miller (NSFW), 3) Elizabeth Hasselbeck, 2) Erin (NSFW) Andrews and 1) Stacey "Dancing With The Stars Made Me" Keibler (who is now longer on WWE anymore, I believe - none of those links are particularly SFW by the way). For my money, I would replace Elizabeth Hasselbeck with Kelly Ripa.
Good list, Adam. Also, happy birthday (a day early). Anyway, the only thing I really wanted to talk about today, was my flight from Omaha to Austin this weekend. I wrote a long blurb about it here, but then I sounded like a whiny little bitch. Suffice it to say that the gate attendants in Memphis suck ass. Instead of complaining about it, I'll leave you with a ridiculous South Park clip that explains the situation.
That's right I'm going to nag at them until I get what I want. What were you thinking.

May 1 = I'm Getting Old
Last year about this time I was finishing up college a second time. I had no finals (grad school is awesome), so I was all done except for the ceremony and the party.
Anyway, I feel like I'm a lot older this May than I did last May. Maybe that's what working does to you (how smart does Wheezy seem now...). I don't know. Now I'm rambling like Bruce Willis.
In any case, I've picked myself in the Death Pool this week. I'm predicting that this may be the week that my luck runs out and my age catches up to me (or my wife finally kills me, its a toss up).
So, if you don't see any posts from me over the next week or so, I'm probably dead. Or just really busy. But probably dead (they really stepped up the violence in those things. That escalated quickly.).
But I digress, the whole point of today's column was to show you this video which you may/may not have seen. It is Will Ferrell working as a trainer for USC football player.
Is it his best work? No. Is it funny? Absolutley. Is it better than this David Hasslehoff lightsaber fight? You tell me. On a side note, Will Ferrell's new video site that is supposed to compete with YouTube.com could be cool except it is like watching porn videos on a freaking modem. Too Damn Slow.
In other news, I hope you enjoyed Testosterone week. Sorry about the lack of a recap and post on Sunday/Monday. I was traveling again this weekend and I arrived in Austin fairly late Sunday, forcing me to play catch up all day Monday. I will fill you in to the details of my trip this week.
Anyway, here's the closing recap of Testosterone Week (I'm including last week's recap because that Shannon Elizabeth post was awesome).
Last Sunday, I kicked off Testosterone Week with a clip of Shannon Elizabeth taking down a banana.
Monday was the first official post of the week told women to know their role.
Wednesday had, among other things, a Get Some Nuts commercial and an old-school karate fight.
Friday was the last post of the week and brought the BCS Top 5 Chicas. The comments on that post should be examined and will be addressed soon...
Have a good week.
