The Glory of the 80's

The 80's were an awesome time. Mainly because I was born then, but there are some other good reasons to love the 80's as well. For instance, who didn't love Reagan? But my favorite part of the 80's is the classic music (not including this crap).

I have a soft spot in my heart for certain 80's bands such as Hall and Oats, Chicago and Journey. In fact, I love the Journey video for Seperate Ways so much that I rewrote the post so I could embed it here. Watch and enjoy.

That's a classic music video. The air keyboard is prolly my favorite part.

Anyway, why am I bringing this up? Because I watched parts of two movies last weekend: Catwoman and Karate Kid, Part II. Catwoman was a trainwreck and I couldn't look away. Honestly, I don't know much about cinematography, but whatever lenses they used to make that film made it look like Cinemax porn (SFW).

Karate Kid, however, is a timeless movie (unfortunately, it wasn't the first movie with the cheap shots and "Sweep the Leg"). The final battle isn't nearly as cool either, although they do "fight to death." On a side note, what in the hell are those drum things that Miyagi and everyone else has? I tried to find a video of them but I couldn't. Do they have a name? Are they just the noisemakers of the 80's?

At this point, you're still wondering how in the hell this relates back to 80's music? Well, Peter Cetera (an original member of Chicago) sang the theme song for Karate Kid, Part II "The Glory of Love."

First of all, how was that the theme song for a karate movie? Shouldn't it be something about ass-kicking or ninjas? Second, why do they have to add the title "Peter Cetera" at the three minute mark? Isn't this his video? In any case, I picture him singing it just like this in the studio. He gets so into it.

To summarize: Karate Kid, Part II was good. Catwoman was awful. 80's music* rocks.

And with that I brought you two classic music videos in one post. Hope you enjoyed.

In other news, the red formatting has now been replaced with gray. I'm still not sure how I feel about the formatting. Let me know what you think...

* Most 80's music, some of it is atrocious

I say cut down to "Must See", "Internal Link", and just "Link". Anyone who sees a link that says "Derka Derka" will know it's classic and they'll probably want to watch it again. Anyone that sees something about a dude in a underwear commercial has to know they're about to get something sketchy. If you keep adding in various forms of color and italics, skeetthrower could turn into one of those bad company emails from some chick.

I'm with Johnny on the linkage.

I always thought that song was actually sung by Chicago. My world is rocked to know that is was just Pete Cetera.

Honestly, the linking doesn't matter all that much to myself, as I blindly walk into any video you post / link.

There's a lot to take away from that post. But most of all I think I feel sorry for Paulo Costanza. Aside from having the awesome benefit of being a Costanza, his career has been all downhill since Road Trip.

Links in other languages are always funnier.

I also just saw the title for "In a crowded room..." and I think I have a new favorite quote.

"I'm Jonesin' Harder than Gollum"
